Chris has extensive live and studio experience on trombone, keyboard and bass guitar, in function and original bands, as part of regular projects and as a dep.
While doing a music degree at the University of Sussex Chris studied trombone with Keith McNicoll of the Royal Opera House orchestra. A move from London to Brighton brought regular slots with a trio and a duo at the newly-opened Brighton Blue Note jazz club, on one occasion being lucky enough to jam with the visiting Keith Emerson.
Since then he has been busy with a wide variety of gigs with various acts, including opening slots for The Wurzels and reggae legends Black Uhuru, Aswad and Groundation, sets at Secret Garden Party, Boomtown and Larmer Tree festivals and residencies at various pubs, bars and clubs around Brighton. Now Hertfordshire based, he still plays regularly on the South Coast as well as further afield.
“I have played with Chris on a number of occasions, and he is truly one of the most talented and sympathetic musicians I have had the pleasure to play with. He is an exceptional sight-reader, approaching completely new, and often complex music with accuracy and precision. He has depped rehearsals and gigs for me on a number of occasions, and never fails to not only play musically and expressively, but he also gels seamlessly in to any ensemble. I would recommend him as a trombonist and bass player to anyone.”
